Austin's Park

We had a birthday party to go to at Austin's Park...a place we've been talking about taking the kids for a while now and just haven't quite pulled it together. It was so fun to see the kids run around like they owned the place. Little Miss A with the girls, Mr. D hanging up with the boys...both running in opposite directions, but what's new.

The tea cups were a hit for both. Little Miss A was super excited about the bumper boatsMr. D was too until the saw the people on the boats getting completely soaked with squirt guns. Then he realized there were super soakers on the side of the boat pond and decided that was his post. He'd sit this one out and take shots from the sidelines instead, stating that he didn't want to get wet. Clearly, he has no qualms about getting everyone else wet instead. :)

After running around outside, it was time to head indoors. Little Miss A and Mr. D are still obsessed with the rock wall. I almost think we should install one in the backyard. If I were confident in my skills at tethering and carbine-clipping, I just might. I know for a fact it would get daily use from these two!

We definitely need to go back again...day passes for all of us so we can put-put golf, laser tag and ride the cars on the track together.

Birthday with Daddy...by Jamie

Ok...so here it is: My first post on the kid's blog! I've finally cracked thanks to the relentless "encouragement" from several family members! :)

As you can probably tell by the title, I got to spend my birthday at home with the kids. Stef had to be at some work thing all day, so I stayed home and planned a couple of things to do to keep the kids entertained.

First thing on the agenda was to get breakfast ready. Then we watched cartoons (Scooby Doo is the best) for a little while and I was ready for a nap...what can I say, I am getting old!!

I made our lunch and we headed off to Zilker Park for the afternoon. It was a beautiful day, so we picked out a spot and had lunch on the ground under a tree. Well, I guess I had lunch on the ground...the kids wanted to have their lunch IN the tree. All was good until a couple of ants crawled them and then they were back down on the ground with me.
We finished lunch and headed over to the playscape. Then it was off to the train. It was all fun and games until D got mad that A and I saw a turtle in the water and he didn't (everything is a competition). So, we took a walk down the trail and found some turtles laying out in the sun and everyone was happy again.

We met mommy at home and went to Benihana's for dinner. The chef did the obligatory "toss the shrimp trick" and I didn't catch it in my mouth. To my apparent lack of coordination, D proceeded to say, "Daddy, why do you always lose?" Nice. :)

I had a great day and could not have asked for a better birthday present than spending the day with A and D.

Field Trip (Take 2)

I stayed at school when the kids went on their last field trip. I was so bummed that I missed it, that I promised myself I would go with them on their next one regardless of what was going on in my classroom that day. Today was the day. I only took a half day off, so I could still get stuff done, but I am so glad I went!!! Another splash park that we used to visit back in our playgroup days. Fun in the sun on a warm afternoon...I felt like a Mom again.
Playing with friends...
Creating a shady spot for lunch.

Hopping back on the bus after a fun-filled day!

I am SOOOOO beyond ready for summer. Camp Mommy, here we come. Only 3 and a half days...I'm counting! :)

The Splash Park Adventures Continue...

After 9 long months, we returned to our summer play land...the splash park. We have been going to this park since the kids were TINY. This is the same place we had the kids 1st birthday party 4 and a half years ago. We met our bffs for some desperately needed playtime after school and played, played, played. Little Miss A was BEYOND elated to see Ken and Mck!!!

Mr. D was super excited to just run, play and be LOUD!!! How in the world is it, that he is ALWAYS the loudest kid at the party? It's not just me hearing it either, I overheard other Moms commented on his volume. GREAT!

An extra fun treat were the sweet duckie family parading by the edge of the park. Little Miss A actually got to touch one...my little animal whisperer. :)

Playing at the Park

We've had a couple impromptu park days lately that have been absolutely wonderful!!!! (The weather has been too nice not to.) I was the slacker Mom that opted to skip gymnastics and dance in lieu of an afternoon outing at the park on Tuesday!!!! That was so much fun that we left school yesterday and went straight to another park. This is going to become a regular occurrence now that spring is FINALLY approaching! I think our next challenge is to hit as many different parks as we can in one month. That sounds like an April thing...more to come next month. :)

A Playdate at the Park

We met our bffs last night for a fun picnic play date at the park. We ALL had a blast!!! Wish we got to do stuff like this more often. I can't believe I took my camera and didn't snap a single pic of the fun that ensued through the course of the evening. Play scape tag, kite flying in the field, hide and seek, you name it they played it!!! We've been playing with Ken and Mck since A & D were born. It's so fun to see how their friendship has grown over the course of the past 5 years. They play so well together. Little Miss A was playing with Kam too, she would be such a great big sister...don't get any ideas...that's not going to happen. :) Mr. D was so sweet with Kam too. He sat by her at dinner and was constantly sharing his dinner with her. I just love watching them play and interact with such close, special friends. No drama, which means I get to catch up with my bff too!!! :)
