So, our friend Ms. J (party planner extraordinaire) arranged a Star Wars themed party for our friend J. Let me just say that we are HUGE Star Wars fans over here!!! My kids have seen the PG episodes and absolutely love them. Totally know the whole story line and as you already know D is OBSESSED with light sabers! (I think the fact that Luke and Leia are boy/girl twins helps since the kids play them in dress up A LOT!!!) So for days leading up to the party, A & D were asking if it was Star Wars day.
The big day finally arrived and, as tradition, it was this totally off the hook event!!!! Not a single detail was over looked. The kids began their jedi training in full wardrobe and created a Yoda doll to begin training. Yoda guided them (while riding on their backs) through a physical training obstacle course. After physical training, it was on to using the force by placing the millennium falcan somewhere in the galactic empire. With a bit of light saber training in their back pockets, they headed outside to take on the bad guys. Mr. D was absolutely wailing on Mr. J...sorry about that, but whatcha gonna do...he knows Darth Vader is the bad guy. What a fun day!!!
Mr. D was SO in love with his costume that he refused to take it off when we went to dinner. So here the picture, Olive Garden 7:30ish and there are PLENTY of high school kids dressed up in their hottest digs for prom and Jedi Drew emerges from the vehicle in full regalia...Anekin braid included. (I made him leave the light saber in the car...no weaponry allowed.) Let me just say the kid was a hit. All the high school boys talking and pointing, commenting to him how much they loved his outfit. The boy was on cloud nine. :)
